Fork Famine: Desire

About this Edition

Desire, our fifth edition, is centered on the craving for the material and immaterial virtues and vices that plague and excite us. Lust, success, fame and love: wanting and coveting that outlast satisfaction. Across an evening of courses and readings, characters begin a sojourn to satisfy their desires. The evening will transpose stories from scripture and philosophy, and draw inspiration from Goethe, Kafka, Plato and traditions further afield.

A portion of proceeds from this edition will support Catholic Charities of New York's immigrant and refugee services, which help refugees and asylees begin new lives in New York through case management, legal representation in asylum cases, English classes, job placement, and help securing housing, food and other essentials

About

Fork Famine is an intimate dinner series for a small group of guests. Each event is a single work; part supper club, part salon, part opera, where the meal and the narrative are crafted together as a unified composition.
